The Job in a Nutshell

The Workshop Manager & Lead Instructor is the operational backbone of Gurasu House. This role requires a unique blend of technical artistry, operational discipline, and leadership. You will be responsible for leading high-quality lampworking workshops, managing a seamless studio environment, and driving the commercial and community growth of the space. You will begin your journey by mastering all necessary lampworking skills to serve as our primary instructor while simultaneously overseeing daily operations.


What You’ll Do

✨ Studio Operations & Instructional Excellence (50%)

  • Workshop Execution: Serve as the lead instructor, conducting sessions with technical precision and high engagement. Ensure all participants receive a premium, safe, and enjoyable experience.
  • Resource Management: Oversee the allocation of materials and equipment for every session to ensure zero downtime and optimal workshop flow.
  • Crisis Management: Act as the primary point of contact for unforeseen emergencies or technical issues, resolving them calmly and efficiently without compromising the participant experience.
  • Environmental Standards: Maintain an impeccable studio environment. Oversee daily housekeeping, organization, and display aesthetics to ensure the space is always “client-ready.”
  • Feedback Integration: Systematically gather and document participant feedback to drive continuous improvement in workshop delivery.

🚀 Performance & Growth (20%)

  • Capacity Optimization: Manage inquiries and booking platforms to maximize session attendance and resolve scheduling conflicts proactively.
  • Strategic Marketing: Collaborate on studio-wide campaigns and lead the ideation of studio-specific products to drive local brand awareness.
  • Data Analysis: Generate and interpret operational data to identify trends, improve session uptake, and discover new revenue opportunities.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage the studio’s P&L by aligning budgets with targets and implementing proactive cost-control measures.

🛠️ Studio Leadership & Operations (20%)

  • Personnel Management: Recruit, train, and inspire a high-performing team to maintain Gurasu House’s rigorous standards of service and safety.
  • Operational Streamlining: Manage staff scheduling and performance metrics to ensure seamless daily transitions.
  • Facility Upkeep: Proactively address maintenance needs using resourceful, cost-effective solutions. Ensure all equipment (kilns, torches, ventilation) is serviced within defined timelines.
  • Administrative Reporting: Deliver accurate end-of-month reports, including inventory reconciliations, in-studio sales, and payroll data.

🤝 Community & Connection (10%)

  • Event Execution: Plan and lead in-studio events, pop-ups, and advanced workshops to showcase the studio’s expertise.
  • Industry Networking: Build meaningful relationships with participants and local artists to expand the lampworking community and foster creative collaborations.

The Skills You Bring

  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record in a leading, instructing, or premium customer-facing management role.
  • Technical Adaptability: An iterative mindset with the ability to quickly master the technical skills of lampworking.
  • Operational Decisiveness: Ability to remain solution-oriented and action-driven under pressure, especially during live workshops.
  • Analytical Proficiency: Experience using data insights to drive business performance and efficiency.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both high-level management and studio participants.

Working Hours

Wednesdays: 2 PM to 6PM (Half day)

Thursdays to Sundays: 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM

Commitment of at least 2 – 4 years. Due to the extensive training involved, this position is only for committed long term individuals.


Requirements

Basic project management.

Good interpersonal communication skills.

Preferably with past instructor / leadership roles.

Iterative and diligent mindset.

A warm, professional, and proactive personality with a natural inclination toward customer service.

Detail-Oriented with the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in a fast-paced environment.

While no prior lampworking experience is required, you must be willing to learn and grow individually. Training will be provided.

Comfortable being on your feet for the duration of a shift and handling workshop equipment.


Remuneration

SGD $2,200 – $3,000 with CPF contributions


Salary will be according to the progression of one’s ability to satisfactory achieve the job scope requirements.
