Beginner Workshop Terms & Conditions
By booking a beginner workshop with Gurasu House, all participants agree to the following terms:
1. Product of Workshop
  • Floral Lampworking Workshop [Beginner]
Each participant will craft a generic flower with 6 petals, and 0–2 leaves, depending on the participant’s crafting speed. The flower will measure approximately 6×6×20 cm.

Please note that workshop creations handcrafted by beginners may not be perfect. Minor imperfections, such as small cracks in the petals, are normal due to the nature of lampworking. If you are uncomfortable with this, we recommend purchasing a piece from our Eden of Glass collection instead.

The Eden of Glass collection is strictly for sale and not available as a workshop.

  • Straw, Stirrer and Spoon Workshop [Beginner]
Each participant will craft three utensils, a flower straw, a dango spoon and a moon stirrer.

Completed pieces will be ready for collection 2 hours after the workshop ends, or on other workshop days (typically weekends). All items will be kept for up to 2 weeks from the workshop date. Please ensure collection within this period.

Please note that workshop creations handcrafted by beginners may not be perfect. Minor imperfections, such as small cracks in the petals, are normal due to the nature of lampworking. If you are uncomfortable with this, we recommend purchasing a piece from our catelog.

2. Cancellation & Refund Policy
  • Cancellations and Refunds
Workshops are strictly non-refundable but may be rescheduled once with at least 72 hours’ notice.
  • Workshop Provider Rights
Gurasu House reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, or postpone any workshop due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to safety concerns, equipment issues, low sign-ups, or personal emergencies. In such cases, affected participants will be notified as early as possible and offered either an alternative date or a full refund.

Each session requires a minimum of 4 participants to run. If this minimum is not met, the session may be cancelled and affected participants will be rescheduled into the next available session.

3. Conduct and Behaviour
  • Behaviour
For the safety of all participants and staff, we reserve the right to immediately suspend or terminate your session if we reasonably determine that your behaviour poses a hazard to yourself, others, or the organiser’s staff. This includes but is not limited to unsafe handling of equipment, refusal to follow safety instructions, or disruptive conduct. No refunds will be issued in such cases.
  • Punctuality
Participants are to arrive at least 10 minutes before the workshop begins to complete the waiver process.

Arriving late will reduce the time you have to work on your glass creation, as sessions must end on time. You will also need to wait until on-time participants have started their projects before we can conduct your safety briefing and crafting demonstration. This may limit you to creating a simpler one-layer flower with only three petals instead of the usual six for the floral workshop, or only two out of three utensils for the straw, stirrer and spoon workshop.
  • No-Show Policy (Over 30 minutes)
If you are more than 30 minutes late, your slot will be forfeited, and no refunds or rescheduling will be provided. Please arrive on time to fully enjoy your session!
4. General Safety Guidelines
  • Protective Gear
Participants are required to wear the provided lampworking safety glasses and apron at all times during the workshop. As the safety glasses are worn like regular spectacles, participants who normally wear glasses are advised to use contact lenses for better comfort and visibility.

Long hair must be tied back, and long fringes should be clipped up to minimise fire hazards.

  • Workshop Environment
Follow all instructions from the workshop instructor at all times.

Do not touch any equipment or tools unless instructed to do so.

Keep your workspace tidy to prevent accidents.

  • Material Handling
Handle glass rods and hot tools with care to avoid burns or cuts. Tools that just came in contact with molten glass can reach temperatures of between 400–700°C, which can cause third-degree burns upon contact with skin.

Be cautious around the torch and flames, as they can reach temperatures of more than 1000°C.

Never place flammable materials near the torch or open flame

5. Health and Safety
  • Physical Condition
If you have any medical conditions or concerns, please consult your physician before attending. Gurasu House is not responsible for any adverse reactions related to exposure to heat or butane gas. Participation is at your own discretion.

Our studio does not use fans or air conditioning, as open windows are necessary for ventilation, and airflow can affect the flame. We recommend wearing light, breathable clothing to stay comfortable and prevent heat exhaustion. Staying hydrated and taking short breaks if needed is also encouraged

.
6. Liability
  • Acknowledgement of Risks
By participating in this workshop, you acknowledge that working with glass and high temperatures carries inherent risks, including burns, cuts, and other injuries. You agree to assume full responsibility for your safety and actions during the workshop.
  • Exclusion of Liability
Gurasu House is not liable for injuries caused by participants’ failure to adhere to safety guidelines or their own negligence. This exclusion does not apply to injuries or damages caused by the negligence of Gurasu House or its staff.
  • Duty of Care
Gurasu House will take reasonable steps to provide a safe environment, including maintaining equipment and providing adequate training and supervision.
  • Waiver
All participants must sign a waiver form before the workshop begins. Participants who decline to sign will not be allowed to join the workshop, and no refunds will be provided.
  • Minor Participants
Participants must be at least 16 years old. Those under 18 must have a parent or guardian present at the studio to sign the waiver.
7. Lost or Damaged Property
  • Damage to Property
Participants are responsible for any damage to workshop equipment caused by improper use. Charges may apply for repair or replacement.
  • Personal Belongings
Gurasu House is not responsible for loss or damage to participants’ personal belongings during the workshop
8. Environmental Policy (Bring Your Own Bag)
  • BYO Bag Policy
To help reduce environmental waste, we kindly ask that every participant bring their own bag when collecting their finished piece.
  • Packaging
All finished pieces will be securely packaged in a rectangular box with cotton for safe transport. If a bag is requested, a mandatory top-up fee of $1 will apply.
