Workshop Terms and Conditions
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, please read and adhere to the following terms and conditions. By booking a workshop, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
-
Cancellations and Refunds:
Christmas Tree workshop bookings are non-refundable and cannot be rescheduled, as it is a limited-time workshop. -
Workshop Provider Rights
Gurasu House reserves the right to cancel, reschedule, or postpone any workshop due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to safety concerns, equipment issues, low sign-ups, or personal emergencies. In such cases, affected participants will be notified as early as possible and offered either an alternative date or a full refund.
Each session requires a minimum of 2 participants to run. If this minimum is not met, the session may be cancelled and affected participants will be rescheduled into the next available session.
Conduct and Behaviour
-
Punctuality: Participants are expected to arrive at least 10 minutes before the workshop to complete the waiver process. Late arrivals will have reduced time to complete their pieces, as all sessions must end on time. If you arrive late, your safety briefing and demonstration will be conducted only after the on-time participants have started crafting. This may result in making a smaller Christmas Tree with no additional decorations. If you arrive more than 20 minutes late, your slot will be forfeited. No refunds or rescheduling will be provided. Please arrive on time to fully enjoy your session!
General Safety Guidelines
-
Protective Gear:
Participants are required to wear the provided lampworking safety glasses and apron at all times during the workshop. As the safety glasses are worn like regular spectacles, participants who normally wear glasses are advised to use contact lenses for better comfort and visibility.
Long hair must be tied back, and long fringes should be clipped up to minimise fire hazards. -
Workshop Environment:
Follow all instructions from the workshop instructor at all times.
Do not touch any equipment or tools unless instructed to do so.
Keep your workspace tidy to prevent accidents. -
Material Handling:
Handle glass rods and hot tools with care to avoid burns or cuts. Glass rods and tools that come in contact with the flame or molten glass can reach temperatures high enough to cause third degree burns upon contact with skin.
Be cautious around the torch and flames, as they can reach temperatures up to 1650°C.
Never place flammable materials near the torch or open flame. -
Health and Safety
Physical Condition:
If you have any medical conditions or concerns, please consult your physician before attending. Gurasu House is not responsible for any adverse reactions related to exposure to heat or butane gas. Participation is at your own discretion.
Our studio does not have fans or air conditioning, as open windows are necessary for ventilation, and airflow can affect the flame. We recommend wearing light, breathable clothing to stay comfortable and prevent heat exhaustion. Staying hydrated and taking short breaks if needed is also encouraged.
Liability
-
Acknowledgement of Risks:
By participating in this workshop, you acknowledge that working with glass and high temperatures carries inherent risks, including burns, cuts, and other injuries. You agree to assume full responsibility for your safety and actions during the workshop. -
Exclusion of Liability:
Gurasu House is not liable for injuries caused by participants’ failure to adhere to safety guidelines or their own negligence. This exclusion does not apply to injuries or damages caused by the negligence of Gurasu House or its staff. -
Duty of Care:
Gurasu House will take reasonable steps to provide a safe environment, including maintaining equipment and providing adequate training and supervision. -
Safety and Conduct Policy
For the safety of all participants and staff, we reserve the right to immediately suspend or terminate your session if we reasonably determine that your behaviour poses a hazard to yourself, others, or the organiser’s staff. This includes but is not limited to unsafe handling of equipment, refusal to follow safety instructions, or disruptive conduct.
No refunds will be issued in such cases. -
Waiver
All participants are required to sign a safety waiver before the workshop begins. Participants who decline to sign will not be allowed to join the workshop, and no refunds will be provided. -
Minor Participants
Participants must be at least 16 years old. Those under 18 must have a parent or guardian present at the studio to sign the waiver.

-
Damage to Property:
Participants are responsible for any damage to workshop equipment caused by improper use. Charges may apply for repair or replacement. -
